Safeguarding at Our School
Safeguarding is our highest priority. Every child in our care has the right to feel safe, valued, and supported. We are committed to creating an environment where pupils can learn, grow, and thrive, free from harm.
Our Commitment to Keeping Children Safe
We follow all national and local safeguarding guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) and the Durham Local Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures. Our approach is proactive, child‑centred, and rooted in early help.
We ensure that:
- Children’s welfare is always at the heart of our decisions
- Staff training is updated regularly so every adult knows how to identify and report concerns
- Safer recruitment practices are followed for all staff, governors, and volunteers
- Online safety is taught throughout the curriculum and reinforced through our policies
- Early help is offered to families who may benefit from additional support
Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs)
Our safeguarding team is trained to a high standard and is available to support pupils, staff, and families.

Reporting a Concern
If you ever have a concern about a child’s safety or wellbeing, please contact a member of the safeguarding team immediately. Concerns can be raised in person, by phone, or via the school office.
If a child is at immediate risk of harm, contact Children’s Services or the police without delay.
Safeguarding in the Curriculum
We teach children how to keep themselves safe through:
- PSHE education
- Online safety lessons
- Anti‑bullying work
- Healthy relationships education
These lessons help pupils develop confidence, resilience, and the ability to recognise unsafe situations.
Working Together
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. We work closely with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community to ensure every child receives the support they need.
